Overview of the Wing

Government departments: Social Sector-II conducts the audit of all offices under the administrative control of Punjab Government departments viz. Education, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Water Supply & Sanitation, Sports & Youth Services, Art & Culture, Housing & Urban Development, Labour & Employment, Information & Public Relation, Welfare of SC & BC, Social Security, Women & Child Development and Science Technology & Environment Department.

Audit of Boards: Social Sector-II also conducts audit of Boards such as Punjab Building and Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board, Punjab Labour Welfare Board, Punjab State Social Welfare Board & Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala and audit of Grants-in-Aid of bodies receiving grants from the State Government.

World Bank Aided Projects: Keeping in view the emphasis accorded to the World Bank Aided Projects, the audit of World Bank assisted units and issue of relevant audit certificates is also performed. Certification of accounts of the following four World Bank Aided projects and one Asian Development Bank Project is performed.

  1. Punjab State Road Sector Project
  2. Hydrology Project Phase-II
  3. Vocational Training Improvement Project
  4. Punjab Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project
  5. Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Project (ADB).


    Audit under Sections 13, 14, 15, 19 and 20 of the Comptroller and Audit General's (Duties, Powers and Conditions of Services) Act, 1971 in respect of authorities and bodies under civil departments as referred in above para.

    All matters concerning Comptroller & Auditor General of India's Audit Reports (Social, General and Economic Sector-Non PSU) including assistance to Public Accounts Committee for discussion in their meetings.

    Issue of Audit certificate in respect of Centrally Sponsored, State Sponsored, World Bank and Asian Development Bank aided projects/ schemes run by the departments and audited by this Sector.
