1. Organizational setup.

Pr. Accountant General (Audit) Punjab, Chandigarh is entrusted with the audit of

  • receipts and expenditure of all the departments, government undertakings, companies, corporations and autonomous entities of the government of Punjab
  • expenditure and receipts of government entities located in Punjab other than central government companies and corporations
  • Based on the nature of entities to be audited, the work of the office has been divided into five functional sectors.

    Each sector is headed by a group officer designated as either Senior Deputy Accountant General or Deputy Accountant General.

    The Pr. Accountant General is an officer of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service of the level of Additional Secretary in the Government of India.

    The group officers are usually officers of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service who report directly to the Principal Accountant General. All Senior Audit Officers and Audit Officers report to the group officers.

    However, Senior Audit Officers in charge of processing significant audit findings, coordinating value for money audits and carrying out internal audit of the office report directly to the Principal Accountant General.

    3. Facilities available to citizens for obtaining information.

    Facility for obtaining information by citizens is available through internet/website www.agpunjab.gov.in/html/functions.htm (Audit link). Under RTI Act, 2005, the information may be obtained on payment of prescribed fee either in cash or demand draft or banker cheque payable to the Pay & Accounts Officer, Office of the Pr. Accountant General (A&E) Punjab & UT, Chandigarh. However, no suh fee shall be charged from the person who is of below poverty line provided a copy of the certificate issued by the appropriate Government in this regard is submitted alongwith the application.
